The
cultures of the Arabs, Phoenicians, Aramaeans, Babylonians, and Assyrians
shared the following. An ordered cosmos focused on the world of the gods.
Organization had been brought to the divine realm through the birth of
deities and assignment of roles in the ordered world. The gods lived
in society with hierarchical structures. Continue reading at - http://mailchi.mp/94b5c515939a/this-is-what-makes-the-hebrew-culture-different
Now
I am going to focus on “the bundles of associations” connected to the words in
the Bible. A key skill in working with words is anchoring them to specific
times and places. (1) None of the Bible was originally addressed to you. None
of us was involved in the original communication events as either senders or
receivers. We are, in a sense, third-party intruders and suffer from
third-party perspectives. Continue reading at - http://mailchi.mp/939734bf835d/increasing-your-accuracy-in-reading-the-bible-part-1
The Alliance is found in one verse of the Bible, Genesis 1:28. It
literally cannot be seen in English translations, but the Hebrew version sets
this Creation Story apart from all other creation stories. The Alliance
is a contract, that God made with the first two subjects of His Kingdom
– the man and woman. All future humans will become subjects of God’s Kingdom
at birth. Make sure you know the Benefits and the Obligations. Continue

In
Genesis 1, “God blessed them” means that God empowered the humans to function
the ways they had been created to function. Fill the earth (with new humans)
means make babies and be parents that teach and mentor the wisdom of this story
to them. By Genesis 7 it was very clear humans were very
fruitful and they multiplied! But in Genesis 9, there was only one family left
on earth! What happened? Continue to read at -

After sending my previous email, “How To Factually Discuss Key Words
in the Bible,” I created an Exploration Guide
for it. This is an upgraded feature of these emails, which provides an option
for readers to actively engage in the subject at a deeper level, and do it as an
individual or as a team of two or more explorers. Continue reading at -

In
August 1980 I began a journey of collecting information that led to this email.
It started when I prayed this short prayer: “Dear God, please show me what
you want me to read in the Bible. Amen.” And immediately, these words
literally popped into my mind: Unless you know how words work, you cannot
understand the words in the Bible! Was this God answering my prayer?
Obviously, I cannot provide any proof to claim that it was. However, I can
provide facts related to the words that popped into my mind. Continue reading

Today,
I want to tell you a story that will provide a context in which you can better
understand why exploring the Bible is so important. Once upon a time, a
professor, a rabbi and a pastor agreed to follow a guideline and explore the
Bible. Their names are Ike Tennison, Jeffrey Leynor,
and Jim Myers. (that’s me). We are the First Exploring the Bible
Team. We explored the Bible for over 30 years and became very good friends. Agreeing
to follow the guideline creates safe and open environments to explore belief
systems; and that is priceless! Continue reading at –
