According to the text the man needs a “help meet.” Notice the text does not say that he needs “a helper.” Not someone to “boss around!” The Hebrew word means, “one that corresponds to, a counterpart of, equal to, and matching.” This matches what we learned about ADAM #1 – “the male and female are equals in the eyes of Elohim.” Male and female are equal partners! Americans are living in a culture and economy that highly values and markets “individual pleasure” and “instant gratification” as top priorities. The unintended and deadly side effects of this are constant anxiety, isolation, loneliness, indifference to others and increased violence. As isolation increases, self-rejection increases; as self-rejection increases, isolation increases. This is a toxic and potentially deadly mix.
