The
other night I was working on a translation of the parable of Jesus about
“destroying the Torah.” A CNN Breaking News announcement caught my attention.
Students on university campuses were shouting “death to Israel,”
“applauding what Hamas did to the Israeli citizens,” and shouting
“death to America.” What I was seeing made absolutely no sense!

The Alliance is found in one verse of the Bible, Genesis 1:28. It
literally cannot be seen in English translations, but the Hebrew version sets
this Creation Story apart from all other creation stories. The Alliance
is a contract, that God made with the first two subjects of His Kingdom
– the man and woman. All future humans will become subjects of God’s Kingdom

In
Genesis 1, “God blessed them” means that God empowered the humans to function
the ways they had been created to function. Fill the earth (with new humans)
means make babies and be parents that teach and mentor the wisdom of this story
to them. By Genesis 7 it was very clear humans were very
fruitful and they multiplied! But in Genesis 9, there was only one family left
